What are the variables and normal ranges for a Urine C%26amp;S (Culture %26amp; Sensitivity) test when diagnosing a UTI (urinary tract infection)?
What are the variables and normal ranges for a Urine C%26amp;S (Culture %26amp; Sensitivity) test?
Normal range is no bacteria isolated at all. Normally, urine is sterile. Most of the variables can be encountered with the collection process. If you do not get a really good clean-catch midstream specimen you risk contamination with normal skin flora, vaginal discharge (if you're a woman, obviously!) or even fecal contamination. The old standard for considering urine to be infected was for there to be greater than 100,000 bacteria per milliliter present, if it was a voided (collected by just peeing) specimen collected first thing in the morning. A much lower number was important from a catheterized specimen. More recently the MDs are considering lower numbers to be important in most specimens. Of course a Sensitivity test is only performed on whatever bacteria is grown in the culture, and it tells what antibiotics are likely to kill the bug. Hope this helps you out..

For car A/C leak testing what is the recommended test pressure?
what oil is using for car A/C compressors?
for R12 %26amp; R134a
what is EPA approval?
For car A/C leak testing what is the recommended test pressure?
for ac leak testing prepoerly the system should be full. Now to save my customers money because we charged for lost freon, we built an adapter to use shop air and would pump them up to 100 psi and test with a dye. for r12 i dont remember the name of the oil but r134a is a pag oil. actually castrol had a blend that would do both and it worked well for me and I was an AC specialist with special studies in retrofitting from r12 to r134

I got a lousy score on my C-reactive protein test. It was 25. What should I do to help myself?
I have begun to eat some fish (hate the stuff) and am taking some fish oil -1000 mg per day. How much can I get my score down?
I got a lousy score on my C-reactive protein test. It was 25. What should I do to help myself?
The testing helps in determining systemic inflammation. This can put you at higher risk for stroke/ heart attack.

The fish and fish oil sure will not hurt. There is no way to say how much this will lower your test numbers.

Is there any sort of test out there to c if you are able to fall pregnant or not?
If so, then I can get on with my life without having to worry about it.
Is there any sort of test out there to c if you are able to fall pregnant or not?
there is a test out there too tell you when your ovulating im sure there is but i dont know if its 100% and its not a guratette that you will or can fall pregnant
Reply:What does "fall pregnant" mean?
Reply:Yes its called a fertility test and can be arranged through your gynacologist. Your husband or partner may also be required to be examined
Reply:Able to fall pregnant? I assume you mean you want to see if you are able to get pregnant? Do you mean now? Or ever?
The now question depends on if you are ovulating. There are blood tests that can be done, but as a general rule it happens approximate 14 days into your cycle (which starts the first day of your menstration). You can take your temprature daily around this time frame, and when your body temperature is slightly elevated, you should be ovulating then.
As to whether or not you can ever get pregnant, you would need to see a fertility specialist for that. They will run you through a whole bunch of (expensive) tests, so make sure your insurance covers it. They will check your hormone levels, do a sonogram to look at your ovaries, and probably do a die test on your fallopian tubes. I'm sure there are other tests they will do, as well.
If you aren't trying to conceive, no fertility doctor is going to bother talking to you. Unless you are 35 or older, you need to have tried and failed for over a year before they even think you might have a problem.
Reply:No- there is nothing over the counter like this. You will need to see your doctor, who will test your hormone levels via blood test. This is the most accurate way of checking fertility status. There are ovulation predictor test to tell you when you are ovulating, but only a test done by your doctor can give you a definitive answer as to your hormone levels.
Reply:How do you "fall pregnant"? If you want children, find a nice man, get married, be sure your marriage is strong, then plan your family. If you are just sleeping around, get on the pilllllll--- don't produce children you cannot raise.
And how do you fall pregnant, anyway?????????

Hepatitis C Test?
Hepatitis C Antibody Test?
I went to the doctor yesterday for my blood work results and he told me that I tested positive for Hepatitis C. I found that the signal-to-cutoff ratio is (%26lt;3.8) to test positive. My ratio is 3.11. So, that means the ratio is low, right? Research tells me that low signal-to cutoff ratios are normally false positives. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?
Hepatitis C Test?
Find out if you had a confirmatory test done. Because of the risk of false-positives, most doctors run a PCR test to check the results. A positive PCR plus a positive antibody test rules out a false positive. If a PCR wasn't done, you should definitely be re-tested.
Reply:I don't know man ....please check with the doc.

AP test- could I substitute Physics C for B and do well?
Currently I am a HS senior, and I am in a AP Physics course oriented towards prep for the Physics B test
Unfortunately, most likely the college I will be attending (CU) will not offer me credit for the B test and I was wondering how I would do on the C test. Is there enough correlation?
I took calc AB and BC as a sophomore, and also took Differential Equations. I also have a top grade in my AP physics B class with minimal effort. Additionally, after only a few months in AP physics, I crammed for 4-5 hours (learned 1/3 of the SAT II material) and got a 720 on the Physics SATII.
So my question is.
1) is there enough correlation between the two tests?- AKA- I simply need to apply calculus to solve the problems instead of relying upon already derived formulas-something I was already doing
2) or do I need to learn a deal of new material? if so how much will I have to learn? and additionally are there any good prep books to do so?
Any help for this senior would be of great value
AP test- could I substitute Physics C for B and do well?
Physics C covers completely different material than physics B. It is definitely not much harder, especially if you are well-versed in calculus, but you need to "cram" new concepts if you want to take the AP test for it.
Reply:Yes, the physics C exam is almost the same exam as the physics B exam, only the C exam involves calculus. To be honest the C exam does not even involve that much calculus, and oftentimes people find the C exam easier.
Reply:I'm two-sided on this question.
1) I don't think there is enough correlation between the materials tested on both exams. Physics C is completely different. It's very specific, in a hard-way, not a facile way. Yes, physics is physics, but it's like saying Calculus is math. While this is valid, Calculus is a math that requires knowledge of previous concepts. I'm not downing your SATII score because it's awesome, but the curve is very immense on the Physics because so many miss so many. Physics C isn't just about deriving formulas though, it's about applying them also; don't underestimate the Calculus needed.
2) I think it's a lot of new material, especially depending which portion of C you opt to take. I don't know the exacts, but I do know it's a lot. Barron's is the hardest, but if you can get through it, you shouldn't have much trouble.
My opinion: Though I sound discouraging, take it anyhow! You may regret not taking it. Even if you "fail," you're really not failing. I think part of the experience is just to take on a self-studied test to get the feel for college.
Good luck in all that you do! :-D

I need to test the perfomance of a c program on different processors, ex. cycles to execute on mobile pentium?
I have written c program and need to be able to test the performance on various processors, from early pentiums to the latest and greatest. I was hoping to find perhaps freeware or if need be software that I must buy that would allow conversions or the ability to emulate and profile different processors. I am using a Pentium IV and have the cycles and ticks required. I would like to know how it will run on more battery efficient processors, particularly mobile devices. As a bonus it would be great to determine watts used. I have searched Intel and other sites and have not come up with any emulators or any direct conversions. I assume it is because different processors take a different number of cycles to perform different instructions. Any ideas would be helpful.
I need to test the perfomance of a c program on different processors, ex. cycles to execute on mobile pentium?
You are asking a very difficult question. Another factor that may change the answers is the compiler. For C on Windows, the Intel compiler may give you much different results than the Microsoft.
Intel has a tool called VTune which may point you in the right direction, though. If you hold everything else constant (e.g., OS and compiler), it might give you a good idea about what you can and can't measure.

Is the class c written test at the dmv hard?
I don't think so. I did pretty well actually. The only problem I had was with the signs. If you know what signs mean what, then you should do fine. Ummm... also, that sign that means "curvy road ahead" wasn't one of the answers. It's pretty basic. You should also know when to pull over and yield and when to pull over and stop (as per ambulance and police) AAAh, you should do fine!! : )
Reply:LOL, it depends on what state you are in. Back when I got my Wisconsin license, it was a piece of cake, of course I *did* just finish a classroom version at school. But, in California, I failed it!!! They guy felt bad for me and gave me my license anyway. I just didn't know all the obscure CA driving laws. So, my advice is to get the booklet and study up.

Please Help? Can you provide me with a copy of the written test for the c license?
I am about to take the written test to get the comercial license. One of sections is going to be about air brakes. If you have taken this test before, please help me out? thanks
Please Help? Can you provide me with a copy of the written test for the c license?
The tests given by states are usually determined using federal guidelines, and there are several different tests (in each state) to prevent the possibility of cheating, copying, etc. It's very unlikely that you can obtain the same test that you will be given. May I suggest studying harder instead of trying to find a shortcut? The knowledge you gain could prevent a serious accident or loss of life.

Is it enough to test hep b to eradicate hep c?
i tested for hepatitis b and its non reactive . my question is ,can a person have hepatitis c without having hep b.is there any other test for that hep c
Is it enough to test hep b to eradicate hep c?
yes you can have HCV without having HCB - they are two different types of viruses. Go to your general practitioner and get a blood test, if your liver enzymes are up then they will do an HCV antibody test.
Otherwise you should be okay.

How often are false-positive results given on Hepatitis C tests?
I know someone who has gotten a positive result on a Hepatitis C test. The hospital told him not to worry because they get a lot of false positive tests. How often do they get them?
How often are false-positive results given on Hepatitis C tests?
I don't know what the rate of false positives are, but I do know that 20% or so of the people who have been exposed to the HCV virus resolve, or clear it on their own. One way to be really sure if there is active HCV present or not is to have a HCV PCR RNA (viral load ) blood test. If there is any detectable virus it will be detected on the test. If not, or if your friend was one of the lucky 20%, then it will come back undetectable. Best wishes.
Reply:Tell your friend to go to a specialist unit,ie,an STD clinic to be tested. They have special labs to test for Hep C.

How can i using volte meter to test the a\c circet?
First, as always use reasonable caution. In the process of testing, the probes will be energized with enough voltage to do some harm. Be careful not to touch the bare ends of the probes.
To test for proper voltage -- set the meter to AC mode. If the meter has multiple settings for AC, select the one that is the lowest over 150 volts. Insert the plug end (shorter end) of the black probe into the common connection socket and the red into the AC socket.
Begin by placing the one probe tip in the wider flat vertical slot and then the other in the narrow flat vertical slot. Read the meter, you should have between 108 and 125 volts. You may need to move the probes around in the slots a bit to get a good reading.
If this is a two wire outlet without a ground, that is about all you can do with any accuracy.
If this is a grounded outlet, a couple more things to check. Insert one probe into the half circle shaped hole above or below the two flat slots, then insert the other probe into the wider slot. You should get a very low reading, less than 0.5 volts. If you get a reading similar to the first, then the neutral and hot wires are likely reversed. A reading less than the first but greater than 0.5 volts can indicate either a problem with the ground wire or neutral wire connection somewhere between service panel and the receptacle.
Finally, insert one probe into the half circle shaped hole, the other into the narrow slot. This reading should be similar to the first. More than 0.5 volts less than the first indicates a problem with the ground connection. Greater than 0.5 volts more than the first indicates a problem with the ground connection. A very low reading here is an indication that the neutral and hot wires are reversed.
How can i using volte meter to test the a\c circet?
depends what exactly you want to test?
Reply:I am assuming that your are talking about a window/wall A/C that is running off a 120V outlet?
Make sure your meter is set for AC current. Since it is AC current it does not matter which lead you stick into which side of the outlet. It should read no lower than 115Volts and no higher than 130Volts.
Reply:you should get a reading of 123 . if you place the red one on
the left hand side of your outlet, and the black on the right hand side , this will give you 120volts

How do they test for hepatitis c and what is the treatment for it?
Hep-C requires specialized blood testing. There is a treatment (interferon) via injections along with an oral medication. It's a rough treatment making you feel like you have the flu every day. Depending on your age and how long you've had Hep-C your doctor would recommend if it would be best for you. There is no cure. If you are advanced with the disease, you can get a liver transplant. However, that liver too, will soon be infected. Go to a good Hep-C webside for complete education. Good luck.
How do they test for hepatitis c and what is the treatment for it?
It's easily detected from a blood test.The treatment(not a cure)is a series of 3 gamma globulin shots.
Also note that Hapatitis c never leaves the body, but is "contained" by the shots. Those infected can never give blood.
Reply:your doctor will take blood from you and then get it tested.

Reply:If you or someone you know has Hep C, you/they will need to see a Gastroenterologist specialist. The determination factor is blood tests on the liver function enzymes (chem panel/ALT + AST), which will detect abnormalities. Currently, there is no cure for Hepatitis C. However, there are treatments for symptoms. At the most, people who are Hep C positive may go into remission (absence of symptoms). This variety of Hep C is contracted via sexual intercourse with a Hep C+ person, and also via drug use (needle sharing). Hep C, when serious enough, causes liver failure, among other things.
Reply:why? do you have if you it is ok i hope you get better
Reply:you get a shot, it won't hurt that much. I haven't ever gotten it so i don't know what the trreatment is
Reply:FIRST HEP.C,HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIV.THEY RUN BLOOD WORK TO TEST,THERE IS NO CURE,THEY DO HAVE A DRUG CALLED INFERON THAT YOU INJECT,AND TAKE PILL'S FOR 12 TO 18 MONTH'S THAT CAN BRING THE COUNT DOWN IN SOME PEOPLE.IT IS CONTRACTED BY BODY FLUID JUST LIKE HIV.SO ANYONE CAN CATCH IT AT ANY TIME.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE C BASE TEST FOR EDUCATION MAJORS IN KCMO OUR ANY SPECIAL WAY TO PREP FOR THIS TEST I CAN'T FIND ANY INFORMATION ON THE NET IS THE TEST HARD AND WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
Does anyone know about the c base test for education majors?
In Washington there is a similar test called the West-B test. I know this one has a math section, a reading section, and an essay section. You can take them all at once, or take them separately at different testing dates.

Give the formula of the gas produced in the addition of ammonium chloride to calcium hydroxide. What test c?
the gas is ammonia.the byproducts are calcium chloride and water
Give the formula of the gas produced in the addition of ammonium chloride to calcium hydroxide. What test c?
The gas released will be Ammonia NH3
I think the balanced chemical equation would be as follows.
2Nh4Cl + CaOH ---%26gt; 2NH3 + CaCl2 + H2O

How to test a C++ project using a VC++ Unit Test Project?
I have a project written in C++. Now I want to test It. I create a new VC++ Unit Test project. How to link my C++ project to Test project for testing.
Can some one help me?
Thanks a lot.
How to test a C++ project using a VC++ Unit Test Project?
There isn't quite enough information here to answer your question completely but the basic idea is that your test suites need to import the DLL (or whatever you are creating) into the test suite and exercise it from there. Depending on your environment you might need to actually import the header files but my C++ is rusty enough that I am not completely sure of this.
Your best bet would be to joint the TestDrivenDevelopment Group (it is a yahoo group) and ask your question there. There are a ton of really smart guys in there that can help you with any and all testing needs.

How to test for vitamin C in fruits...procedure, equipment etc?
how do you test for vitamin C in fruits? iv worked out that you have to juice the fruits but how do i do the testing exactly? How do you make the DCPIP solution? Also, do you use Ascorbic acid as a controller to make sure the DCPIP is working? thanks
How to test for vitamin C in fruits...procedure, equipment etc?
orange taste
Reply:2,6-Dichlorophenol-Indophenol tablets are available from chemical supplers (Philip Harris Education for example). I tend to use a 0.025% solution, made according to instructions (siply dilute in usally 1 litre water) then serial dilution to desired conc.
This can then be calibrated with known conc. vit. C so that the amount in an unknown soln. can be determined.

Is the ELISA test enough to screen hepatitites c?
My friend has her blood test result of hepatities c positive she is been told theres antibodies it was ELISA test what that mean?
is she carrier? is there any chence that is false positive is there any other accurate test to be reassured ?
Is the ELISA test enough to screen hepatitites c?
There is a fairly high rate of false positives for hepatitis C using ELISA alone. Most labs will do a second test using a different method to confirm a positive hep C antibody ELISA test. It is much less likely to be a false positive if both tests are positive.
A positive hep C antibody test means that someone has been infected with hep C at some stage. About 1 in 5 people who get hep C will get rid of the virus naturally without treatment, however they will still have hep C antibodies even when the virus is gone. The other 4 out of 5 continue to carry the virus.
A hep C PCR test can clarify whether the virus is (still) present or not. If it is, then there are now treatments available which can sometimes result in a cure. Your friend should discuss this with her doctor.

How accurate is the blood test for Hepatitis B and C?
Original Blood sample was taken on 20.11.2006 by the Lab. Tests were done for LFT's and ALt was 62. I went to collect the report on 5.12.2006. Doctor then ordered Additional tests for Hep Bs Antigen, Hep B s Antibody and Hep C Antigen. The results were all conclusive and negative. I am just concerned that since they tested the same old blood specimen taken on 20.11.2006, ie around 15 days old, the antibodies and antigen might have vanished from the blood specimen. Does this ever happen?
How accurate is the blood test for Hepatitis B and C?
Anything is possible. I would have a new blood sample checked after 2 weeks and then see if it is the same. The second opinion if one of the biggest tools you have in health care.

Should I buy a used A/C outside unit? How can I test this unit to make use it works?
My low income elderly grand parents survived a hot summer without A/C. Their outside compressor malfunctioned. My coworker has a used outside unit (Trane 4 ton) in his garage. He told me it worked %26amp; its for sale.
1. How do I test this unit?
2. My grandparents house is all electric.(No gas)
3 House is 1200 sq ft.
4. Is the unit large enough?
Should I buy a used A/C outside unit? How can I test this unit to make use it works?
You might want to call around and get some pricing. If you purchase a new condensing unit, you get a brand new manufacturer warranty with it and labor warranty with the company who installed it. Depending on the brand name you get, most of them carry at least a 5 year compressor warranty and parts. The contractor who installs it should offer at least a one year labor warranty. Trane, Lennox, and Carrier are good units. Make sure the condensing unit you purchase will be compatible with your inside unit. I would make sure the installer is trained and certified , before you give the ok. To answer your question, you have to install the unit. I would not recommend a used unit. There is alot of risk there. Just call around and see what they can do for you. They might offer financing. If you get me the model number of the unit ( inside and outside) I can get you the tonnage and let you know what you need.
Reply:A 2-1/2 ton (30,000 btu) unit should do the job. Your friend's unit is way too large.
Oversizing a furnace is no problem normally, but oversizing an air-conditioner can be a bummer. A/C's are made to cool but it is more important that they dehumidify. If they don't run very much they will not dehumidify very well. If an A/C unit is oversized it will only run a short while because it will cool the house down very quickly. Too quickly and it will not dehumidify and the comfort level is unsatisfactory. Also the size of the ductwork has to be compatible to the size of the A/C.
Get the serial number and any other information from the label on the outside unit . Give it to one of your local HVAC companies and they'll be able to tell you the size of the old condensing unit. While you're at it, get them to come over and provide you with a free estimate. Old units can be more trouble than they;'re worth. Good luck.
Reply:A four ton unit is way too large for that size of a house. It will not dehumidify properly and will cause mold to form on the inside of the duct work, and this would be very bad. A two and a half ton unit would be plenty big enough. Easier yet, find someone you know and trust and have them order a new compressor for the unit. All the refrigerant will have to be recovered first, then install the new compressor, evacuate the unit down to about 400 to 800 microns, then put the refrigerant back in. Have them check the superheat to make sure the right amount is in it. You may have to add just a little or take just a little out. If you know someone you trust, it's really an easy thing to do and not super expensive like the air conditioning companies will charge you. Good luck.
Reply:You can only properly test pressure when it's connected. You'd need to test low-side pressure and high side pressure, under a proper load of refrigerant. A 1200 sq.ft home would only need a 1 to 1.5 ton unit, depending on how much southern exposure and windows (heat). A 4 ton unit would be overkill and cause more problems than it's worth. If buying a used unit, it is critical to evacuate the system for a long period, with a new filter drier installed... moisture in refrigerant (from sitting in a garage) causes hydrochloric acid, which will kill the unit. I'd spring for a new unit, and put it on your utilities bill... You can in Canada. Call Direct Energy for a quote.
Reply:Only way To Test unit Is To Install It. You Should Only Need 1 1/2 Ton Ac Unit So That one is Way oversized

How long does it take before you can perform a dye test on auto a/c once dye has been added very small leak?
i have had problem w/ 04 tundra. dealership did pressure %26amp; dye test and can't find leak. now they say to drive it for a couple weeks to let dye circulate thru system and bring back for blacklight test. Freon has been slowly leaking out since purchase of new vehicle. I have had compressor change, o rings chg, low side a/c line chgd. every 6 months it needs charged. i believe i have a lemon. my warranty is still good thru august but feel they are giving me the run around. can anyone help?
How long does it take before you can perform a dye test on auto a/c once dye has been added very small leak?
Yes you need to run it a few days with the dye circulating the system. It sounds like a slow leak. They should have also used a Sniffer freon detector. There, they would recharge the system and then use the detector to sniff for leaking freon. I have seen leaks in all kind of places. Tell them also to do that along with the dye check.
Reply:Dye is apparent immediately as the Freon circulates through the system constantly. What they are saying is the small leak may not allow enough dye to leak out to show up immediately. Driving for several days should allow enough leaking dye to show up under the black light.

Does anyone know why it's necessary to have a strep b test when a c-section is scheduled?
I read that strep b can be passed to the baby during a vaginal birth, but I'm wondering if it can also be passed during a c-section. Not a big deal, but I go for my strep test on 11/7 and I tend to freak out a little at the thought of something going up there! Thanks!
Does anyone know why it's necessary to have a strep b test when a c-section is scheduled?
I would think that maybe they would give you the antibiotics *which I believe they start when you go into labor if you are GBS+ and delivering vaginally* even if you were in there for a c-section, you know how doctors have to/like to cover their butts from lawsuits and whatnot. Besides as many of the answerer's have said, I'm sure the doctors want to know in case you go into labor early.
And as they said nothing really "goes up there"
I believe you get two swabs, one in your vagina, and one in your rectum. I believe this happens around the same time they start to check you for dilation and whatnot, and really it is SUPER quick. From what I remember the swabs in both areas are much quicker than what you get when you get a Pap Smear done.
Don't fret, it will be over before you know it and remember that forewarned is forearmed. It is better to have WAY "too much" information going into labor/delivery/etc than not enough.
Good Luck and Congrats
Reply:It could be that if you test positive they would just go ahead and treat you regardless. This is the only reason I could think of. It can't be a good thing to be a carrier of Strep, so if they decided to treat I'd count it all good. Best Wishes with your delievery! Congrats!
Reply:This test confirms a certain type of bacteria around your back-side. There's a risk with vaginal delivery that it will be spread to your baby and compromise his/her health. With a C-Section, that risk is small to none, so many practitioners don't routinely request testing. There's no harm in requesting it yourself, however, if you'd rather be safe than sorry.
Good luck!
Reply:Just because you have a c-section scheduled doesn't mean that something couldn't happen very quickly in the meantime. Best to know if you are GBS positive.
BTW - nothing's 'going up there'. The swab is done at the opening of the rectum and the vagina...it's very quick.
Reply:If diagnosed with GBS, you must be given IV antibiotics, regardless of whether or not a c/section is scheduled.
Reply:God forbid you go in labor BEFORE your c-section. It's a safe guard. I have 3 children and was GBS+ on the first two (weird that I wasn't on my last). With my second daughter they "forget" to treat (I know, huh!!) and she endured extra blood test but was totally fine. It's a very quick test and the weird thing is that with my third child they had me go in the bathroom and swab myself?! When it came back negative I started to freak out and told them I didn't do it right b/c I was + for the first two. They reassured me...and he is fine. Congrats on your baby!!
Reply:if they dont do it before hand they will do alot of tests on the baby and thats no fun. like you said its no biggy but id reather have the test of me then alot of tests on the baby right when he/she is born.

Has any one taken the P&C test in insurance? Did you pass or fail? What is the hardest questions on the exam?
I am in the class now and my employer has said " he will pay for the class the first time but, if I fail I will have to pay untill I pass" Anyone that has taken the test PLEASE HELP !!!
Has any one taken the P%26amp;C test in insurance? Did you pass or fail? What is the hardest questions on the exam?
First, you are taking a class so you are already ahead of the game. The teacher (or teachers - when I took the class in NJ there was a different teacher for each section - property/liability %26amp; law %26amp; ethics) will help you to understand the most important parts so that you can pass the test. Only one person failed the school test the first time %26amp; he was allowed to retake the school test before he sat for the state test. 100% of my class passed the state test on the first try (even the one that failed the school test the first try %26amp; we were worried about him - our whole class took the state exam on the same day in the same place).
When I moved the material was self study, no class. Luckily I only had to take the law portion which was only 50 questions since I was already licensed in another state. I found this harder but I passed on the first try.
Word of advice, read the questions carefully, there are a lot of "double negatives" - which I found in both tests. Example: Something is NOT covered except when.... This is really similar to how policies are written so I can see why they do it but it can be confusing. Don't overanalyze, eliminate any answer you know is wrong (the tests are mutiple choice) %26amp; then go with your gut, most of the time it is correct. Don't change an answer unless you are POSITIVE it is wrong, your first choice is usually the correct answer. Sometimes a question further in the test will give you the answer to another one.
Also, some tests are more commercial, some are more personal, it is the luck of the draw. I was lucky in my first test, it was more personal. The law is the same on both sides, luckily I didn't get many workers comp questions.
Good luck to you. When you go to take the test, get a good nights sleep, have a good breakfast with lots of protein %26amp; try to relax.
Reply:I've taken lots of P%26amp;C tests - we are going to need to know what p%26amp;c test you are taking.
Are you taking an agents licensing exam or an adjuster's exam? What state?
Or are you working on a professional designation like AIC or CPCU?
Most likely no one will be able to give you questions - often these tests are computer generated and the questions come from a bank of thousands. But if you let us know what test you are taking, we may be able to help you with what areas to focus on or test taking strategies.
Reply:the test is not that hard as long as you understand it. the hardest part for me was about the workers comp and commercial insurance, since that is not something that we come across on a daily basis.

Can I back on the eligible blood donation list after a false positive test for Hepatitis C?
A year ago, I donated blood and it came back positive for Hepatitis C. Since then I have had 2 separate test for Hepatitis C, (1 month after the false positive, and 1 year after the false positive), and both came up negative. I don't even show up as ever having antibodies for Hepatitis C, so my doctor told me the results show that I have never had Hepatitis C. Is it possible to ever get back on whatever list they use so I am eligible to donate blood again, or am I banned forever.
Can I back on the eligible blood donation list after a false positive test for Hepatitis C?
I sell my plasma and i'm pretty sure it's the same list, she told me that if I had a false positive I would not be able to donate blood or plasma ever again. once on it your on it forever from the way it sounds.
Reply:If you took a test a year later from when you got your first positive and it came back negative, then you should be eligible to donate blood again. Its possible, but rare that the test came up with a false positive. The only thing that may be required for you to get back on the list is to have the first test that came up positive and the test you took a year later that came up negative; providing these documents will prove that you are clean and you should have no problem getting back on the list. Good luck to you.

Does anybody know why ice is used to test for hepatitis c?
I know somebody that got tested for hepatitis c and i was told they used ice to test it. I wonder why that is?
Does anybody know why ice is used to test for hepatitis c?
they used ice to protect and preserve the specimen until it could be tested. ice is not a part of the actual testing process.
Reply:I am familiar with blood tests being done for hep C testing. I have actually never heard of using ice. I would tell her to go to the doctor for a blood test. Here is a site that explains testing for hepatitis.

How many weeks does it take to figure out if you have HEPATITE C ? On a blood test?
well i got blood in my soure, from someone who has hepatite C. this happend last week
do i have to waint another week to take a blood test?
How many weeks does it take to figure out if you have HEPATITE C ? On a blood test?
No...you should have what is called a Baseline right now...to make sure you are not carrying the virus already... then after the baseline another blood test will be required in 4-6 weeks...Hep 'C' can remain dormant in your body for years. But blood tests will show whether the virus is present.
Reply:The normal time period for hcv testing is about 50 days from point of risk factor. This is when the majority will test positive.
You can test now, but chances are you will be told you have to wait at least three weeks from point of exposure to 3 months.
if you develope flu like symptoms, go get an hcv test right away!
a baseline can tell if you already have hcv. so the above poster is correct as well.

Does anyone know where to purchase the HIV and Hepatitis C ORASURE test kits?
I was wondering if anyone might know where regular consumers (me) can purchase the ORASURE HIV/Hepatitis instant test kits? I know they were recently FDA approved, but I can't find anything on the internet as to where they can be purchased by the general population, if at all. Thanks to everyone in advance!
Does anyone know where to purchase the HIV and Hepatitis C ORASURE test kits?
They are not available to the general population. You need to be a medical provider, or as many community based organizations, associated with a medical provider to purchase the kits. To get tested you can find a clinic or a community based organization that will do free testing.
Reply:They should have them in your neighborhood drug store they generally have them over the counter in the condom section, on the top shelf.
If it helps I found this site for you.

So will a C-reactive protein test show that I have an infection?
I had or have an infection in a past root canal area, things I have read show there could be a problem with heart disease, stroke etc, and to test with a C-reaction protein test. So I was on medication (Aristin) and had it a week ago, so if I had the test would it show if the infection has cleared up. If it came back off would it mean the infection is still there, Don't want to loose the tooth if the infection has cleared up.Thanks
So will a C-reactive protein test show that I have an infection?
The CRP tests for inflammation, not infection. Having your white blood count tested would be more appropriate. Your infection in your root canal, if treated with antibiotics, will not increase your chances for a heart attack/disease or stroke.
Reply:Thanks for your answer! Report It
Reply:CRP is a test, not very commonly used, to detect any inflammation in the body, especially the arteries and veins, hence why it is used almost exclusively to test for cardiovascular risk.
To measure the CRP level, a "high-sensitivity" CRP or hs-CRP test needs to be performed and analyzed by a laboratory. This is an automated blood test designed for greater accuracy in measuring low levels of CRP, which allows the physician to assess cardiovascular risk. If a result in the low-risk range is found ( %26lt; 1 mg/L), it does not need repeating. Higher levels need repeating, and clinical evaluation as necessary.
Your doctor should be the one to order and evaulate blood tests, as to find infections, other tests are commonly used such as a CBC.

Do I need to take all these classes to be able to take P&C test and get my license?
Hi, do I need take all these to be able to take the state test for P%26amp;C license?

Looks like you need to take the third one down.
And if you're going to succeed at insurance, you'll have to work on your reading and analytical skills. Figuring out what you need for that class is much, much, much easier than figuring out what coverages a commercial client needs.
Reply:check to see what your state requires. NC requires 40 hrs pre licensing.
Reply:Need to. No. But they'd love to have you think you do.
Reply:Yes, you need to take 40 hours of general insurance and 12 hours of ethics and CA insurance code. If you have a CPCU designation you can can be exempted from the 40 hours of general insurance and take only the 12 hours of code and ethics.
Also if you are a new California resident who had a current license in another state and completed 40 hours of prelicensing education in that state you can can be exempted from the 40 hours of general insurance and take only the 12 hours of code and ethics.

How can I lower my C-Reactive Protein test?
Are there any nutritional, herbal or mineral methods to lower my C-Reactive Protein reading? It is a test of Cardiac risk.
How can I lower my C-Reactive Protein test?
C reactive protein is NOT a test of cardiac risk. It is a nonspecific indicator of inflammation in the body, and elevations of CRP have been associated with cardiac events. This is a fine distinction, but it leads me to the point that lowering your CRP depends upon why it is elevated in the first place. It may be due to arthritis, a connective tissue disease, infection, or a host of other sources. You need to work with the physician who ordered the test to find out why it is elevated and then treat that condition.
Incidentally, treating the CRP has never been shown to reduce cardiac risk. Treating high cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, and stopping smoking reduces cardiac risk, and you are much, much better off working on these traditional risk factors for heart disease.

How long does it take for a hepatitis C test to turn Postive?
usually once your blood lab is taken it can take up to 5 to 7 days for the results.
if it comes up positive, you will have more testing done.
it can take up to 3 months to test positive if you've been exposed, the problem is that many don't know they are ill with hcv because it mimicks so many other diseases and a doctor will treat the symptoms as individual causes of unkown origin.
good luck!
How long does it take for a hepatitis C test to turn Postive?
It depends on how long you have carried the virus..My late husband was given a blood transfusion at a major hospital in Va. after an accident..He had been perfectly healthy except for his asthmatic condition, before his accident that required the surgery. After about a month he started to show signs of yellow jaundice, decrease in appetite and started to itch...He was diagnosed 6 months later with Hepatitis C...I am without a doubt sure that the blood he received contained the virus..If a person donates blood who was recently infected with the Hep C and doesn't know it the blood has a window of 3-6 months before it will test positive for the virus..It will already have been added to the donation pool and there is no recourse for you if you become infected..They can deny it all they want..but it happens everyday...
Anyway...some people ..according to the so-called experts that I dealt with during my husband's bought with the disease, say that it can lay dorment in the body for up to 20 years and show no sign of being there and then all of a sudden can be awakened by an illness or trauma and reak havoc on the liver and body eventually resulting in liver failure and death..
It is a nasty one..Just as bad as AIDS..does't get as much publicity or funding as Aids research but is responsible for just as many deaths....
Reply:If you have it, it IS positive, moron.

How do I test for Vitamin C in a laboratory?
I am teaching in a rural area where the chemical supplies are limited. I have to test for vitamin C. I seem to remember being able to make an indicator of purple cabbage. is this true? Please tell me some simple way (s) to make an indicator for Vitamin C?
How do I test for Vitamin C in a laboratory?
Not cabbage! The SPECIFIC indicator used is 2,6-dichlorophenylindophenol (DCPIP) - a blue/purple dye reduced by ascorbic aid to it's colourless form. There is no suitable substitute that I know of, although red cabbage extract is an excellent GENERAL acid/ base indicator.
Incidently the DCPIP method is useless at determining the Vit C content of blackcurrant juice!
Reply:It is true that you can use red cabbage as an indicator for acid and base. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) changes the cabbage juice to pink. Using cabbage juice any acids will change it to a range of pink to red. If you are using a base (soap products, detergents, etc) the range is green to blue. Boil the red cabbage in water and let cool down and you have yourself an acid and base indicator. Wonderful experiment!
Reply:I have little experience with testing for vitamin C but this website may help. Good Luck

How do I determine my hepatitis c test results? Do I have hep c?
I gave blood last year and they sent me a letter saying that my screening test was positive, my riba test was indeterminate, and my nat test was negative. I then went to the health department and there test was negative. Six months later My doctor did a complete hepatitis virus panel and liver function test and all was normal. So what does it all mean?
How do I determine my hepatitis c test results? Do I have hep c?
Liver functions %26amp; liver enzymes can be in the normal range even when you have Hep C. 40% of people with HCV have enzymes in the normal range. If I were you, I would redo the hepatitis screening test. It should be either "reactive" or "non-reactive"; if it is non-reactive, then you have not been exposed. If it is reactive, then you will need another test to determine if you have chronic, active hep c. That test is the HCV PCR RNA. If that one comes back detecting any number , then that means you have Hep C. Best wishes to you.
Reply:You have Hep C
Reply:If your doctor did include a Hep C viral screen and it came back negative - you're lucky and not to worry. If it came back positive, you're infected.
Hep C virus mutates daily %26amp; persists for a lifetime in its victims. No permament cures yet. No vaccine yet.
also now are Hep type E%26lt;F%26lt;G%26lt;H%26lt; all separate types of viruses. You can have 2 viruses or more at the same time in your liver. All are spread through sex %26amp; intimacy just like Type C - as well as spreadin other ways. too.
Reply:The test that had you as positive was probably a false positive. Mistakes happen.
Reply:The best thing to do is get all your lab results and see a hepatologist. (A liver specialist). He or she will be able to determine if you are HCV positive or not. A repeat HCV RNA test would be in order as well as other test to confirm the infection. Also, diagnosing hepatitis C would depend if there are any risk factors for the disease, for example did you use Intravenous drugs that were illegal, received a blood transfusion, had multiple sex partners, have piercings or body tattoos that were done unprofessionally.
(FYI, the risk of transmitting hepatitis C via sex is very low on the list compare to hepatitis B. Aquiring hepatitis D is only possible if the person is also infected with hepatitis B. Hepatitis A and E is only acquired by ingesting contaminated food and water and not via blood.)
In the mean time, the best thing to not do to promote liver damage is avoid alcohol, in any amount, as there is a lot of literature supporting alcohol use which causes progression of liver damage. Please see a Hepatologist (because a primiary care doctor are not liver specialist).

Was i wrong to ask for a hep c test at the std clinic?
I know that I can lead a high risk lifestyle, and the last time i went to the std clinic in calgary, they would not give me a hep c test. She basically told me that i dont qualify to be tested and that the test cost a lot of money. I jsut want to make sure that i am good to go, and felt that it was wayyyyyyy off to have to argue with a nurse at a clinic about getting tested!
I am just really happy that i am a bit older, and not really young because i would have just said cool, i aint got nothin to worry about 10 yrs ago.....WRONG!!!!
I pushed for the test and got it... it was negitive, but i am due for another exam and well, should i have to argue for another test?
I have been with muliple partners, protected, and yes a few have had jail house tattoos...... what should i do?
Was i wrong to ask for a hep c test at the std clinic?
Getting tested frequently is not a way to prevent getting sick. Things like HPV, Herpes, AIDS, Hep-C have no cure. If you know you are doing things that are high risk for this, why do you continue to do them? Take care of yourself.
Reply:if your going to participate in high risk behavior, i would get a real doctor. the clinics are good for a couple of mornign after pills and a hiv test, but they wont monitor or feel the need to mke sure your healthy like a real doctor would.

Unless you look at risking it an adventure.
Remember it only takes once and then your screwed for life and chances are if you have a child it may be passed to the child.
So in simple steps change your lifestyle and your associates if there ais a risk to your safety.
Just my opinion

Remember it only takes once and then your screwed for life and chances are if you have a child it may be passed to the child.
So in simple steps change your lifestyle and your associates if there ais a risk to your safety.
Just my opinion
How can I make the test for hepatitis c -ve so that I can work in Saudi Arabia?
I have Hepatitis c . The test for antibodies is +ve and so not allowed to work or live in Saudi Arabia.
I asking if there is any way to make the test -ve ( false -ve)???????
How can I make the test for hepatitis c -ve so that I can work in Saudi Arabia?
There is no way to make the antibody test negative. Even if you clear the virus yourself (about 20 per cent of people do) or if you successfully cure the hep C with peginterferon and ribavirin, the antibody test will still show positive.
Reply:No there's no way you can do that. Your liver enzymes are way out of whack. Have you received any treatments for this chronic disease? I would not suggest you go to Saudi Arabia. My suggestion is SEE A DOCTOR.
Reply:well, that is stupid of the goverment then as hcv, is not spread by any way except for blood. it is not contagious any other way.
there IS a cure for hepatitis c and your genotype has a lot to do with how well you would respond to treatment, but if you ask your doctor for antiviral chemotherapy and remain "sustained" for a year or more post antiviral chemo, a person and his doctor will tell you that you are cured.
after responding to treatment, you will always test positive for antibodies, however, the active parts of the virus are dead.
ask your doctor!
Reply:Get yourself treated, with pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
Reply:Why would you even want to do something like that? These precautions are put in to place for your protection and the protection of others.

I have heard that Hepatitis C is a silent disease, so when should I go for a hepatitis C test?
I have heard that Hepatitis C is a silent disease, so when should I go for a hepatitis C test? Please give me more information about it.

The above answer is correct. The CDC has more information about Hepatitis C on their website.

Reply:If you think you have been exposed, see your Doc. Have regular blood tests for liver problems. Hep C can incubate for decades before killing you. Keeping your doc informed is the best way to beat this killer disease. I am too late for myself, so please see your doc. Exposure is not easy! Drugs, sex, blood to blood, are the only ways to contract it.
Reply:You have recieved some good info. from other postings, (except those that listed sex as a primary cause of infection) and some links to some of the more basic, yet fact filled, websites. Use them.
The reason HCV (Hep C) is known as a silent disease is:
1) You can have it for extended periods without any outward manifestations / symptoms of the disease.
2) Many initial symptoms, when they do begin to appear, are also symptoms of other (more common) illnesses and diseases.
3) Too often Dr.'s will run a liver panel for AST / ALT enzyme levels to test for liver damage instead of a direct test for HCV antibodies. These enzymes can be very high with no liver damage, or they can be low (even within normal ranges) and there can still be great damage to the liver.
4) HCV can cause fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. It does not proceed at a set pace for everyone. One person may develop fibrosis and remain at that level for years, while the next can develop severe cirrhosis in a very short period of time after reaching fibrosis.
5) Fibrosis can be reversed, cirrhosis cannot, cancer requires a transplanted liver and at present only 15% of those needing liver transplants are getting them.
6) At present there is no cure, although extended periods (including lifetimes for some) of "clear of virus" are experienced by some who have treatment.
This should give you an idea of why HCV is called "silent" as well as some reasons to take the test. Yes, it can be scary to be tested for a potentially fatal disease. The thing to keep in mind is that most people with HCV will die WITH the disease, NOT BECAUSE of it. The sooner you find out your status, the more you can do to be a part of that majority.
Reply:this is the most educated group of responders that I have had the pleasure of reading to date. Their info seems correct. 25% of all patients with HCV will have normal enzymes. over 50% will be asymptomatic. Symptoms do NOT correlate with degree of injury to the liver. Diagnosis is screened for by a "hepatitis panel" which includes antibodies to hepatitis C, NOT by "liver functions". If positive then the diagnosis is confirmed by HCV-RNA (a more expensive and specific test). Almost ALL patients with HCV have experimented either with IV or inhaled drugs. Prospective studies of sex have largely failed to show any transmission. Older retrospective studies of sexual transmission were flawed in their design. THus if you have tried drugs, even once, then go get screened!
