Normal values on AST is below 40, and AST below 56. Your levels are extremely elevated, indicating damage to the liver. Drinking when you have hep c is like throwing gasoline on a fire trying to put it out. Alcohol causes the virus to replicate faster; couple that with the damage alcohol causes alone and it's a recipe for cirrhosis and an ugly death. I have worked with a hep c support group for over 7 years and have seen people who never think it will happen to them, until they end up in the hospital with symptoms of a failing liver (ascites, varices, hepatic encephalopathy), then it's too late to do anything except get a transplant. The problem is, when you need a transplant and you've been drinking, they won't give you a new liver. Livers are precious %26amp; few. Over 10,000 people die each year waiting for a liver.

If you want to live, then you need to quit drinking; plain and simple as that. Best wishes.
Reply:Give up the drink totally, as Hep C can lead to Liver damage and chirossis more so if you are drinking is very high Normal liver reading on ALT is 90
