It takes from 2-6 months to show up in an antibody test.
Does the antibody test for virus c gives positive results directly after the enterance of the virus?
Depending on the immune system of the person infected, it usually takes about 6 months to seroconvert. ( I have seen people tested as early as 2 months, but re-testing is a must at that early stage).
People with compromised immune systems take longer to seroconvert for obvious reasons.
Reply:I believe your talking about Hep c virus. If you think you have been exposed get to the doctor NOW. Hep C is more than one virus now study's have found, you need to see a doctor. I found out i had the Hep C antibodies in my blood in 1996 during a routine blood test for Hep C. No history of anything dangerous, and it's been guessed that I my body started to produce the Hep C antibodies back in 1952 after a blood transfusion as a kid. I am 61 and healthy, as long as my body produces the Hep C antibodies.
Reply:It may take as long as 6 months. Go to your MD now if you have been exposed. And stop doing what ever it was that exposed you to Hepatitis C. Hep C kills a lot of people but there are treatments. There are also folks with Hepatitis C who do not have active disease throughout their lives.
