Pcr test for hep c?

pcr testing for hep c?


I tested neg for hep c using apcr test this week





a couple of ppl on here have advised that i should be retested as it may have been a false negative,,,but what will a pcr test show up in a weeks time that it didnt show u this week?





i asked my doctor and have been advised that the chances of a false neg are nearly impossible





please help

No you don't need to get tested again. If you had a negative HCV antibodies test and a negative PCR test, then you don't have it.





PCR actuall looks for the viral material, if it didn't find any then you are in good shape.





I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it any more. Congratulations, you are safe!
Reply:Polymerase chain reaction is an effective way to test for various illnesses, including hepatitis C. If you have a low risk for having the illness before you tested, it is extremely unlikely that you have it. If there was a high probablity of having the disease, a second negative pcr would be very reassuring that you don't have it.
